On 3-4 October 2024 TU Delft, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) will organize a course on Decarbonisation Routes for Steel.
This course is designed for engineers and scientists working in ferrous metallurgy who would like to better understand the decarbonisation options facing the steel industry. The course will cover the basic chemistry of hydrogen production, combustion and reduction of oxides, consider the different ways hydrogen could be used to replace carbon in iron and steel production but also examine other options not involving hydrogen. Fundamental and techno-economic aspects of these options will be discussed. Attendees will be asked to carry out some simple calculations. The course will take 8 hours, hybrid and be delivered over two days. Lecture notes will be provided for attendees. More information and registration
