On Thursday 30 January 2025, Grade2XL researcher Valentina Pusateri successfully defended her PhD at the Technical University of Denmark. Her research focused on comparison of LCA/LCC for the conventional metal manufacturing and the wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM).
The results achieved for eight life-size demonstrators in different industrial sectors showed that the use of WAAM could essentially improve the carbon footprint, material savings and life cycle costs of the large metal parts comparing to the conventional manufacturing approach.
