Building Bridges: Sabanci University delegation visits M2i
On 31 May, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Sabanci University (Turkey). During their visit, they showcased their state-of-the-art Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center, SU-IMC. We explored various opportunities for potential collaboration, making the meeting both fruitful and promising. This initiative was facilitated by the Innovatie Attaché Netwerk, highlighting their commitment to fostering innovative partnerships with foreign knowledge hubs.

Circular Circuits Consortium Meeting 14 March 2024
On 14th March 2024, the consortium members of the Circular Circuits project came together in Utrecht for its annual progress meeting. Over 40 participants from 29 project member organizations arrived for the meeting.

ESED kick-off was successful
We are excited to announce that ESED, funded by RVO, has been successfully kicked off on 13 February 2024. This project brings together 4 partners, with a.o. TU Delft, TNO, and ASML, to develop a universally applicable tool that will support designers in their decision-making facilitating circularity along the entire lifecycle of products.

New EU Project started: TRIATHLON Kick-off was a success
M2i is proud to announce that we are leading the European project TRIATHLON, a Horizon Europe project set to improve sustainability in aviation over the next 4 years. The project aims to develop disruptive approaches to design low-emission hydrogen-electric powertrains for megawatt class aircraft. Last week the TRIATHLON consortium celebrated the impressive proposal success with an equally impressive Kick-Off in Delft, hosted by TU Delft and M2i.
M2i Conference 2023 – Looking back
In December 2023, M2i organized her yearly conference again. We enjoyed meeting many of the researchers and their supervisors and the discussions about all science and technology that we together create in our projects. The yearly meeting is an important moment in time where we all show our findings and gives a platform for further discussions on the work that we do now and directions that we could set for the future. Global Near-Zero Steel Initiative calls for ambitious industry partners
Greenhouse has launched the Near-Zero Steel 2030 initiative, a partnership with the World Economic Forum’s First Movers Coalition, BCG, Deloitte, ResponsibleSteel and RMI, looking for corporate organisations and start-up ventures to share their commitment to decarbonising the steel supply chain.

Seminar Circular Electronics, September 26th 2023, TU Delft
This seminar was organised by the valorisation manager Jan-Henk Welink (TU Delft) to tell the broader audience more about the research project Circular Circuits. The aim of this project is to contribute to the development of a fully circular generation of electronics.
Grade2XL AM Challenge: Application Deadline extended till 8 November
During the annual conference M2i Conference, taking place on 11 December 2022, the Grade2XL project will organize an Additive Manufacturing Challenge for students, researchers and engineers in the field of Aerospace, Architecture, Design, Maritime, Materials, Mechanical, a.o. as part of the Grade2XL project. We therefore challenge you to design a novel product, to be printed with wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM).
The Grade2XL project partners meet in Austria
On 12 and 13 October 2023, Voestalpine Bowler Welding (vaBWG) hosted in Leoben (Austria) 2-days meeting with the Grade2XL partners for the project review sessions and an industrial visit to the facilities of the vaBWG plant in Donawitz. The tour included Voestalpine Innovation Centre for Green Steel and the rolling plant for wire rod.
Smart*Light 2.0 Kick-off event held!
On 14 September, the Smart*Light 2.0 project kicked off at Differ. Building upon the achievements of the Interreg V project SmartLight, this new initiative represents a significant leap in X-ray analysis, allowing us to delve deeper into the structures of materials, objects, and tissues.
Seminar Circular Electronics on Tuesday, September 26th, TU Delft (free)
Electronics uses many of the critical raw materials. Current manufacturing technologies made consumable electronics very accessible but barely recyclable. Different strategies for improving the circularity of electronic devices are in the scope of the Circular Circuits project, funded by the Dutch NWO Perspectief program under the leadership of Prof. dr. ir. Arnold Tukker managed by M2i.
DEPMAT Kick-Off Event Held!
On August 31st, the full consortium gathered at Tata Steel Netherlands in IJmuiden for the kick-off event of the DEPMAT Perspectief program. With 35+ people attending the event, ranging from the PhD and PostDoc researchers and supervisors, to the industrial representatives of the various companies, the event was a success.
